CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN ICT DAY-2024
The Science Education Unit (National STEM Resource Unit) of the Ghana Education Service will be celebrating the 2024 edition of the International Girls in ICT Day.
With Technology playing a key role in all kinds of careers, from Art and History to Law, Primary Teaching and Graphic Design, learning Tech skills at a young age will set girls up for economic independence.
The day is celebrated to stress the importance of girls in I.C.T. and encourage more girls and young women to pursue STEM education and join the tech sector. The day will also provide an opportunity for female tech leaders and professionals to share their experiences and inspire other girls and young women.
The celebration will be on the theme: “Leadership”, which will underscore the critical need for strong female role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.
The day will be celebrated on Thursday 25th April, 2024.
In order to make the programme successful, the following activities are recommended:
• Hands-on/practical activities in ICT
Mentorship on ICT skills and related careers
ICT fair/Durbar
Pre-school, Primary, Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) teachers and students are to engage in ICT activities to commemorate the day.
Accordingly, Management is by a copy of this letter requesting Regional Directors of Education to bring this to the attention of all Metro, Municipal and District Directors within their respective Regions.
Additionally, District Directors are kindly requested to assign their respective ICT, STEM and Girls coordinators to collaborate and coordinate the activities for effective implementation.
