Many are in a dilemma on salary negotiation for 2025 and the delay in the release of the aptitude test results which was written in August this year.
Many sources have disclosed their update on salary negotiation for 2025, this is what GNAT has got to say.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Department of Compensation and Benefits has several updates. Here are the key points.
CPDA Payment: The 100% negotiated CPDA for 2024/25 has been paid in September 2024, with 200 for CPD training and 100 license renewal deducted as agreed in the signed Collective Agreement.
2. Digital Support Allowance: The maiden 800 Digital Support Allowance is due for payment in November, 2024.
3. Deprived Area Allowance: Plans are underway to negotiate figures for the Deprived Area Aflowance.
4. Outstanding Issues: All other outstanding issues in the CA are being addressed.
5. Promotion and Upgrading: Issue of reactivation/promotion placement/upgrading and other related HRMIS issues are being given the urrency it needs through CAGD, PSC and GES Management
6. Minimum Wage and Base Pay: Negotiation for 2025 minimum wage and base pay will commence soon, with a promised salary increase effective January 2025.
7. Aptitude Test Results: Result of the aptitude test for promotion will be released soon..
On point seven, salary negotiation will definately take place but ‘soon’ has no specific time line. Salary earners must lower their expectation since negotiation will take place after the new government assumes power, the effective date will be January 2025 as it was done in January 2021.

Salary negotiation is on hold until next year after the election. He affirmed it’s a decision from labour unions because they always don’t get a better percentage in election years. They want to negotiate with the government that comes to power after the elections.
On the promotion examination, it’s ready and waiting for approval to be released. Hopefully this week or next.”
I guess salary negotiation for next year will take place somewhere June/July, salary negotiation will not be immediate as the next government takes power, it will take the next government some period to choose their finance minister and some other matters will be put in place first, lower your expectation if the soon indicated in the above statement does not come before the end of election.
GNAT is aware of the situation but do not want to be emphatic that is why they have indicated ‘soon’ .
