Education Minister announces timeline for release of 2024 WASSCE results

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, has announced that the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released.

The announcement follows the Minister’s working visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility in Accra.

WAEC had earlier disclosed that its scanners, which play a vital role in the marking and release of results, were faulty and could not be replaced due to outstanding debts that hindered the Council’s operations.

In response to these challenges, the Ministry released GHC25 million to WAEC to address some of the issues it faced.

Following his visit, Dr Adutwum announced that the Council is making significant progress and expressed optimism that the results would be released on time.

“This morning, we visited WAEC, and we were taken around. They are working, and by 29 December, or earlier, the results of the exams will be out so that universities can proceed with admitting students for various degree and diploma programmes.

“I was here with the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, and we are satisfied with the level of preparation and the work being done by WAEC. We are grateful for their service and for the fact that, even during this break, they have staff working tirelessly to ensure the results are released, enabling our students to continue their education,” he stated.
