2024/2025 ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR SECOND CYCLE INSTITUTIONS
Below is a release letter from Ghana Education service on the transitional acdemic calender for 2024/2025 academic year.
Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform Heads of all Second Cycle Institutions of the 2024/2025 academic calendar.
The academic year begins on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024 for all Ssecond Ccycle Institutions. Please note that the current first year students in Transitional Calendar schools will end their 2023/2024 academic year on Monday, 28th October, 2024 and be promoted to Form two (2) and continue with the new academic year immediately.
Incoming first year students for Single Track and Transitional Schools will also begin school on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024. Additionally, all continuing students in Single Track Schools will re-open for the new academic year on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024.
This reopening date aims to ensure that the school calendar reverts to a September start in the coming years and students will be able to write their 2024/2025 WASSCE in May/June 2025.
By a copy of this letter, Regional Directors are directed to communicate to all Heads of Second Cycle Institutions to ensure full implementation.
The resuming dates for second semester and second term is as follows;
For basic school academic work must begin at 8th January, 2025.
Reopening Dates for SHS (Double Track Schools)
Transitional students in double-track SHS schools have the following schedule:
SHS 1 Students
SHS 1 students will resume on 3rd January, 2025, and vacate on 7th February, 2025.
SHS 2 Students
SHS 2 students will return to school on 10th February, 2025, and vacate on 23rd May, 2025.
SHS 3 Students
SHS 3 students will resume on 3rd January, 2025, and vacate on 16th April, 2025.
